After an era anchored in seafood cuisine, the owners of Lucky Fins restaurant decided to launch a new concept at their downtown Boise location: ACERO Boards & Bottles. This innovative Italian eatery features small plates, charcuterie boards, pasta, flatbreads, and other shareable items. To achieve this vision, they engaged CSHQA to revamp the space and design an unforgettable experience for visitors at Grove Plaza in downtown Boise.
The design incorporates black anodized metal, rich wood textures, gold mesh, and orb lighting, creating a modern yet timeless atmosphere. Guests are welcomed by an illuminated logo on a moss wall, echoing Italy’s countryside. A striking artificial maple tree, symbolizing the restaurant’s Italian roots—”Acero” means “maple”—is central to the design. The project involved remodeling the dining area, the exterior patio, and the restaurant’s layout. The indoor/outdoor bar was relocated to foster a more inviting vibe with a clear view of the feature tree. The previous flexible seating space was reconfigured for functionality and intimacy, featuring a custom booth crafted from an anodized arch with gold panels. A beautifully lit wine section entices passersby, inviting them to discover what awaits inside.
CSHQA’s architects communicated closely with the owners to solidify design plans and accommodate every request. Collaboration with CSHQA’s engineering and interior design teams ensured the plans were cohesive across all elements. The owners selected furnishings, while the design team provided recommendations for vendors, color palettes, and durable materials. Thoughtful planning ensured ample space for the chosen furniture, resulting in a well-organized and inviting environment. As the original design team behind Lucky Fins, we were excited to help reuse and transform the space, re-establishing it as a key anchor of the Grove Plaza while creating a vibrant new dining experience for the Treasure Valley community.
