Lights, communications, heating, air conditioning, running water, security, fresh air. The best engineering designs are the ones you take for granted.

CSHQA offers fully-integrated design services to ensure you enjoy the things often taken for granted. We provide mechanical, plumbing, electrical, civil, structural and communications design. Working as a studio, the engineering team is led by Principal Amy Dockter, PE, herself an accomplished electrical engineer. CSHQA engineers design systems for all types of projects from aviation and healthcare to restaurant and retail.

As with all CSHQA studios, sustainable and high performing designs are paramount. The CSHQA Boise office is an adaptive reuse of a 60-year-old warehouse. CSHQA engineers modeled and designed infrastructure including a radiant heating and cooling system, high efficiency lighting and controls, efficient air handling systems and low water use fixtures, to deliver a high performance building at a reasonable cost.

CSHQA engineers excel in complex problem solving. Throughout an extensive emergency department renovation, close coordination with the entire CSHQA team ensured fully integrated design.  Over 30 gas and utility systems were completely replaced in multiple phases while the emergency department remained fully operational 24/7/365. During 22 months of construction there were no outages or downtimes.

CSHQA engineers lead and innovate. Meeting and exceeding stringent code requirements, such as California Title 24 for lighting and energy efficiency, is standard practice. Our mechanical engineers have been recognized for innovation in geothermal and heat recovery design. Our electrical engineers stay current with new and developing technologies such as LED lighting and provide aesthetically pleasing yet cost-efficient designs. Our civil engineering team has published articles on permeable pavers and storm water management following successful implementation of leading edge products and applications.

Engineering. It’s what we do.
