CSHQA collaborated with Hendricks Commercial Properties and Geronimo Hospitality Group to design Hotel Renegade, a high-end boutique hotel on Grove Street in downtown Boise. The location and the historic architecture on this block were thoughtfully considered and construction on this unique property began in 2022. The eight-story building officially opened on May 28, 2024.

Hotel Renegade is focused on providing a personalized, locally inspired guest experience for both corporate and leisure travelers. The hotel evokes an old-world charm, drawing inspiration from Clint Eastwood’s classic Western films. It features brick, leather, copper, natural steel, and other rich materials, creating a polished industrial aesthetic within a warm and inviting atmosphere. The client envisioned a concept blending classic style with a modern edge, where rustic meets refined, and CSHQA delivered.

The hotel offers 122 guest rooms and suites, complete with Juliette balconies and copper soaking tubs in the suites. The rooms are designed in various sizes and equipped with modern amenities, providing unique options for all guests. The striking space includes an in-house supper club, coffee bar, 2,700-square-foot rooftop ballroom with an adjoining 1,100-square-foot outdoor patio, rooftop bar, and a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center. The rooftop cupola tower is a distinctive corner feature of the building’s roofline and adds a unique element to the Boise skyline. Guests can enjoy stunning mountain and skyline views, ensuring an unforgettable stay in comfortable luxury.

The client was highly engaged in the building’s design process. CSHQA architects and engineers worked side by side with them to realize their vision, translating the client’s ideas and bringing them to life in the construction phase. For example, the client desired stone banding elements in the design. CSHQA designers refined the concept and developed construction documents that made the design elements feasible. This close partnership proved a significant success, crucial in bringing the client’s dream hotel to life.

CSHQA provided architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineering services for the building, as well as landscape services for elements of the rooftop. ESG Architecture & Design provided interior design services. The streetscape was redeveloped parallel to the hotel’s construction, necessitating close coordination with an outside design team.
