Robert Martinez, PE, LEED AP

Lead Senior Mechanical Engineer / Associate Principal

Robert Martinez used to spend hours in his room building airplane models. As a teen, his goal was to become an engineer and work in the defense industry building military airplanes. As he matured, with advice from his older brother-in-law, who was also an engineer, Robert pursued mechanical engineering. After he graduated, he obtained a job with Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, New York falling in love with the HVAC industry. The rest is history.

Now a Lead Senior Mechanical Engineer with almost 30 years’ experience, he is responsible for mechanical/HVAC systems design and conceptualization including building automation and control systems design and sequences of operation. Sharing his knowledge and experience with young designers and engineers has also become a passion. Robert loves simplicity. “Many times, there seem to be simple solutions to complex problems. My greatest satisfaction comes from finding the simplest and often overlooked solutions to these challenges.”

Key projects prior to joining CSHQA include these three award-winners:

  • Gilead Sciences, La Verne, CA: 400,000 sq. ft., 5-building biopharmaceutical production and administrative buildings campus; Automated Logic Company (ALC) – 2018 Project of the Year Nominee

  • Baxter Bioscience, Building 8 (TAKEDA), Los Angeles, CA: 120,000 sq. ft. purification facility for human plasma fractionation; ISPE – 2018 Facility of the Year Award (FOYA)

Outside of work, Robert enjoys off-roading, hiking, fishing, and shooting. He loves camping with family and friends and having a cup of coffee in the early morning next to the campfire. His best family memories include RV vacations taken for the past couple of decades. He also volunteers at his church facilitating teens and adults that inquire about the faith.
