Joe Huff, a Senior Mechanical Engineer in CSHQA’s Boise office, is involved with the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse portfolio of building types. He is experienced in energy efficiency projects, DDC controls upgrades, and large industrial campuses including government, healthcare, hydrogen, and others.
Joe has always enjoyed mathematics. In high school he was taking calculus classes at the local community college. His passion for mathematics along with an interest in taking things apart and learning how they worked led him to mechanical engineering. When a client comes to Joe with a unique problem, he takes pride in researching and developing solutions to best meet the client’s needs. “It is important to me to keep informed on the latest technologies available and recognize projects that would benefit most by these new technologies.”
Key projects prior to joining CSHQA include 10101 Angelo View. This 40,000-sf single-family residence included the design of sump pits, rainwater harvesting systems, and high efficiency design to blend the house into the hilltop landscape. Joe also designed the HVAC replacement and improvements for Torrance Memorial Medical Center, a five-story hospital building. He planned and executed the installation of a temporary AHU installed on the 2nd floor to provide conditioned air to the occupied first floor while the AHUs serving the tower were removed and replaced with one large AHU. He coordinated with the design team including architects, contractors, structural, and others to meet deadlines and ensure continued support for all occupied areas of the tower.
In his free time Joe enjoys mountain biking, dirt bike riding, camping, fishing, and doing home improvements.
