While touring art schools, Stephanie Chimonas’ group visited WSU’s campus. As they walked through the Architecture building, she immediately knew that was the place for her. She changed her original plan to pursue graphic design about a month before school started. As an AIT III in CSHQA’s Boise office she provides general architectural support on various projects.
Her favorite thing about her job is interacting with clients and coworkers. “It’s so satisfying to help a client’s ideas come to life and give them a space that exceeds their expectations.” she said. She also loves to develop diagrams and high-quality renders for clients. Prior to joining CSHQA, Stephanie focused on retail design, primarily with prototypes. She worked at Starbucks as a member of their Pacific Northwest Design team designing coffee shops in Washington and Oregon.
While at BCRA, she worked closely with a fast food chain to help rebrand and change the look and feel of their outdated restaurants. She also had the privilege of being on the design team for a remodel of Chateau Ste Michelle’s facility in Woodinville, Washington, designing some of their custom wine racks and casework pieces. The space turned out so beautifully and the transformation was incredible. Stephanie enjoyed seeing her designs becoming centerpieces for such a beautiful space. She also designed a four-story mixed-use commercial building next to Stoup Brewing in Ballard, Washington, that was featured on the front page of the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. It was pretty cool to see a project she designed published!
Stephanie does the NY Times crossword (almost) every day. She loves coffee, and backpacking with her coonhound, Molly, and yes, she has pet rats and insists they make great pets!
