For most kids, you could find them completing video games or playing with the newest toys; but for Nick Oelrich, you could find him rolling out big sheets of paper for his sprawling floor plan designs. That passion for planning eventually led him to a career in architecture, and now he’s a Project Architect II in CSHQA’s Boise office.
For Nick, creating strong design concepts is his favorite part of the job. In his role at the firm, he helps manage the project teams and coordinate documents—seeing each project phase or problem that may arise as another opportunity to express better design. One of Nick’s favorite projects he got to work on was the Portland Art Museum because of its impact on the community and the level of thought and effort that went into the design. When he’s not at work, Nick spends every other moment working in his yard. Whether moving plants, dividing them into different pots, or pulling weeds, he’s more than happy to spend an evening on this ever-evolving project.
