Juhee Moon

AIT

Juhee Moon, AIT, finds inspiration from buildings so breathtakingly beautiful they swallow you in. “Many remarkable works by Zaha Hadid, Thomas Heatherwick and BIG do that for me. I became an architect to create something remarkable that will inspire others.” Juhee specializes in parametric architecture (Grasshopper/Rhino 3D). She is skilled in 3D modeling (Revit, Rhino), laser cut physical models, and 3D printing (best student model, AIA 2022 holiday party). She also enjoys rendering, creating iPad drawings, and experimenting with AI prompts.

Juhee gets fired up by competition, coffee, challenge, and bad design (interior, spaces, buildings)! She is a perfectionist who will do what is needed to deliver on time, beyond what was promised. “It is important to me to exceed client expectations.”

While attending the U of I 2022 summer green architecture program in London, Juhee and two classmates participated in a team 24-hour charrette challenge. They designed the Long Grass Pavilion at Kensington Gardens, known for hosting temporary pavilions from renowned and emerging architects each year. Juhee created the beautiful grass-inspired renderings using parametric design, and their professor was incredibly pleased. The challenge was short, intense, and an excellent group effort. Her graduate thesis project also explored design possibilities taking inspiration from botanical elements. It was a perfect opportunity to further her parametric architecture knowledge. She created a thesis book comprising six chapters of design sequences from each selected botanical element.

Juhee’s happy place is in the mountains, surrounded by trees swaying in the wind and looking over a pure blue lake. She loves sewing and has made matching mother-daughter dresses, which garner compliments from strangers when worn in public. Juhee and her husband enjoy date nights with dinner and organic wine. They also love to travel, having met while working in Singapore in 2010. Living in Southeast Asia allowed them to explore so many countries they needed to add extra passport pages!
