Garrett Ness, an Electrical EIT II at CSHQA’s Boise office, assists the electrical engineering team while receiving guidance from the firm’s licensed professional engineers. Garrett says he was drawn to engineering because of how goal-oriented the industry is—allowing for consistent progress toward a targeted outcome. He’s happy to be at CSHQA because the most important aspect of his working environment is to have an “upbeat and close-knit community atmosphere.”
Although Garrett is still gaining experience, he’s developed a strong skillset from his work in electrical construction and the design-build projects he completed while at school. One of his favorite projects was helping to design the general power for an office building renovation at the Portland International Airport (PDX). While it was a challenge and presented a steep learning curve, “it was cool to take part in a project so close to home,” he says.
In his spare time, you can probably find Garrett on a basketball court. He played basketball every day while growing up, and it’s now where he finds the most peace.
