Ethan Hitchcock

AIT I

Ethan Hitchcock has been drawn to design since childhood, fascinated by how art and buildings can convey monumentality. He followed that interest through school and earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Idaho. He joined CSHQA as an architect in training, drawn to the firm’s range of work and the chance to learn from mentors across many project types.

His graduate work reflects that approach. In a technical studio, Ethan designed a mass timber multifamily building in Boise centered on a seven-story greenhouse atrium that naturally regulates the building’s climate. He is most excited by architecture that shapes how people experience a space while benefiting its occupants and the surrounding environment.

For Ethan, a good project starts with the people who will occupy it. Understanding the emotions a space will stir in its users grounds a design in the goals the team set out to achieve.

He also has a strong command of visual storytelling. Ethan received a Student Rendering Award of Distinction from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI) through its Architecture in Perspective 40 competition, held in Washington, D.C.

Outside the office, Ethan plays pickleball, spends time at the gym, and paints. He mostly reads fiction and listens to audiobooks whenever he is behind the wheel.
