Senior Architect III / Associate

Dawn DiMedio, Senior Architect III at CSHQA, checked all the boxes—good in art, math, and applied sciences—but initially dreamed of becoming an astronaut, not an architect. She did not seriously consider architecture until high school, but once she arrived at Syracuse University, everything clicked. “It didn’t take long at Syracuse—I felt home!”

With 20+ years of national experience, Dawn brings deep expertise across commercial sectors, including Corporate Office, Higher Education, Industrial and Manufacturing, High-Density Residential, Governmental/Public Works, Retail, and Outpatient Healthcare. She previously owned and managed a Pittsburgh-based WBE-certified commercial architecture firm for over a decade.

For Dawn, architecture’s greatest reward is seeing designs become reality. “The excitement of seeing concrete poured and steel erected per your own design is unequalled in other professions. To participate in changing the built environment and sharing that with others is profound; it’s a joy and a responsibility.”

She is passionate about advocating for the profession every day. “At our best, architects serve as leaders, master coordinators, innovators and problem solvers,” she says. Dawn believes architects must respond every day in an informed and creative manner—because when architects represent the profession well, the entire industry thrives.

Among her most meaningful projects are Head Start facilities throughout Western Pennsylvania. The national early childhood education program serves low-income families by supporting food security, family well-being, and classroom education. “The spaces are tiny, but they have a ginormous impact! They were colorful, happy, heartfelt projects.”

Outside the office, Dawn is a University of Colorado Ralphie superfan. When her CU alum husband first took her to a Buffs game, she thought he had invented the buffalo mascot. “I nearly lost my mind when she took to the field. Run, Ralphie, Run!”
