CSHQA, Inc. (Denver Office) was selected by the Roaring Fork School District RE-1 in Glenwood Springs, CO as their Roofing Consultant for the design and management of the District’s
reroofing contract for the existing Sopris Elementary School. The District had successfully received Colorado BEST Grant funding for FY11-12. The school is a single-story structure with approximately 55,000 SF of roofing involved and a grant award just exceeding $760,000.
Sopris Elementary School is nestled in a local residential neighborhood and is just one of nearly a dozen school buildings and structures in the District’s inventory. To provide a long lasting and
energy conscious solution, the District is planning to install a low-sloped (modified-bitumen) assembly with a highly reflective surface coating to achieve an Energy Star ® Rating.
An aggressive schedule is planned for the team with survey, design and documents prepared in six-weeks and bidding scheduled for mid-February, 2012. Limited construction activities are
anticipated while school is in session with the bulk of the work commencing late May 2012. Work will be finished in early August 2012 before students return for the new school year.
