Stinker Station – Hyde Park

Boise, Idaho

Stinker Stores is a chain of Idaho-based fuel centers and convenience stores founded in 1936 and boasts the iconic Stinker Skunk mascot.  Over time many of the stores have been remodeled, expanded or even relocated, but the 1970s-era Hyde Park store had yet to be updated.  The company wanted to maintain its market share while investing in the local neighborhood.  The store needed a hip, relevant makeover to allow greater merchandising while at the same time remaining compatible with the historic nature of the community.

CSHQA worked with the owner to add 587 sf to the original 2400 sf and to completely remodel the interior.  New, high-efficiency refrigeration and LED lighting save energy and reduce operating costs.  The interior updates included a larger and better wine selection and expanded ready-to-go deli.  New, modern colors and typefaces mix with higher quality materials including reclaimed barn wood and tile to create fun and dynamic signage.
