Sienna Ridge Retail Center

El Dorado Hills, California

Located in the Sacramento region, El Dorado Hills is one of the most affluent communities of its size in the nation. CSHQA was hired to provide construction documents and construction administration for a new large retail development in the area called Sienna Ridge Shopping Center (Sienna Ridge). The project included multiple retail pad buildings and two shops anchored by the center’s Safeway grocery store.

CSHQA provided initial floor plans and elevations that adhered to the city’s strict design and aesthetic requirements. These plans became the basis for the team’s design that were further developed into complete and coherent construction documents.

A local design review ensured that the material selection maintained a specific look for the new construction in the area. For example, the stone veneer the team chose had to match other local stone in the immediate vicinity. Throughout the design process large mock-ups were revised until there was a perfect match, and once the veneers were ready to install there was constant supervision to ensure consistency throughout the shopping center. Large pre-cast stone slabs were also used as a veneer on most of the buildings, which had towers over the main entrances. Timber was used along the eaves to bring an additional element to the overall composition. Site, landscape, and electrical drawings were incorporated into CSHQA’s documents that were submitted to the Building Department for a permit.

The pad buildings were all left as shells, with the interior ready for tenants to make their improvements. Shops 1 and 2 were finished out with restrooms, ceilings, lighting, and a functional HVAC design so that tenants could immediately begin to occupy the spaces once construction was complete.
