Sudeshna Sukla is a Senior Architect III at CSHQA. She has always been drawn to beautiful environments as an artist and culture lover. Growing up in Bangladesh and Washington, D.C., she was exposed to varying types of architecture. She was fascinated by the local climate and culture’s impact on the built environment. Her initial degree was in Interior Design; however, she discovered and fell in love with architecture while studying abroad in Florence. She had a feeling architecture would combine her interests into a fulfilling career and, after a few years working in the industry, decided to pursue her master’s degree in architecture.
As a kid and young adult, she admired how impactful our surrounding environment is, especially in gathering and communal spaces. Now, as a Senior Architect III, she often focuses on gathering spaces for large projects. She works closely with clients/stakeholders and the design team while constantly communicating with the entire group. She enjoys the collaborative process and loves to see clients happy. “Projects inevitably have ups and downs, so building meaningful relationships, gaining trust and making decisions for each client’s best interest is very important to me.”
Sudeshna is well-versed in all project phases, from programming to construction administration. Her focus thus far has been high-end design (country clubs, commercial interiors for tech, residential and hospitality). She specializes in creating destination/gathering spaces (lobbies, lounges, spas, wine rooms) and helping with visualizations. She has a knack for creating renderings, VR content and presentations, and is naturally good with software.
One of her favorite projects is a working tasting room in Napa, California. The space is simple, yet sophisticated (barn exterior with a moody, rustic interior). She worked on the project in association with Richard Bear Architects during the pandemic. It was her first experience working primarily remotely and holding outdoor socially distanced meetings. “I’m proud of the entire team and myself and how gracefully and seamlessly we utilized our resources to keep the project on schedule.”
Outside work, Sudeshna loves expanding her knowledge in technology and showing up as an AEC representative in the tech space. She is active in multiple local organizations where she empowers others to build their leadership skills, including Girls in Tech – San Francisco, where she serves on the board.
