As a Proposal Coordinator, Anne Zabala responds to Requests for Proposal and other marketing efforts for the firm. She is an adept and persuasive technical writer who understands and can deftly speak to or build up audiences. She has extensive experience crafting compelling content that resonates across different mediums as well as producing winning proposals that make an effective and resonant appeal to the firm. She also has both the eye and technical skill to execute creative and unique graphic designs.

Anne originally thought she may be interested in medicine but realized she enjoyed experimenting with her science writing more than she did experimenting in the lab. The more she explored, she found she enjoyed technical writing, graphic design, and devising and implementing systems and processes (hence her degree emphasis in organizational science) and pursued any opportunity that combined these and other related skill sets in a meaningful way.

Being involved in the community is especially important to Anne, making her feel grounded and connected. She finds ways to contribute her time and abilities to participate in community activities – both in and out of the workplace – and give back where she can. This has driven her commitment to volunteerism and civic engagement. “In my time on the Moscow City Council, I have helped lead the initiative for the City’s creation of a Climate Action Plan, which sets a clear path forward for achieving carbon neutrality in the city. This effort is a multi-year project that began in 2019 and is slated for adoption in the summer of 2022. It was a massive undertaking that involved numerous students, scientists, community members, city staff, and many more dedicated participants and is something I am immensely proud to have been a part of.”

Outside of work, Anne is cultivating various new hobbies including learning to play the banjo, bird watching, weightlifting, cooking, getting back into fishing, drawing, watching old kung fu movies, dragging herself out of the house for friends’ metal shows, and attempting to grow aquatic plants. “I am just one person among my peers, but I am doing my part to fight the hobby crisis facing my generation! It finally clicked that you don’t have to be good at something or even do it regularly to give it a shot or keep it around!”
