Andrea Kier, Marketing Manager, has always been interested in understanding what motivates and inspires people. Naturally very left-brained, she likes that Marketing allows her to also be creative. Though most of her experience has been in the travel industry, Andrea has always been very interested in architecture, interior design, and landscape design because they seemed like a great way to be an artist and a very analytical thinker at the same time. Her experience includes everything from working on website content and maintenance to social media to content planning to writing and editing to creating brochures and collateral all the way to high-level marketing strategy. Before arriving at CSHQA, Andrea led and completely transformed the direct mail program as the Marketing Manager for a tour operator, selling vacation packages from all over the world directly to travelers. Through a commitment to quality, powerful design, and understanding how to communicate effectively with customers, she was able to better meet their needs and significantly impact business earned from brochures. As Andrea puts it, “I guess you could say I’ve been practicing “People who listen. Design that speaks.” for quite some time already.”
Dedicated to producing thoughtful and quality work, Andrea loves making things look pretty, but also understands the importance of efficient and effective communication in presentation. She is very passionate in all that she does and always remembers to consider the small things because ‘they all come together to make the big picture. You may not consciously register “oh, that isn’t perfectly aligned” or “the colors here don’t match very well” but your mind does notice and the overall impression you get from something visual is affected by all the smaller things you’re seeing. Furthermore, understanding the “why” behind a project is something that’s very important to me because we can’t think fluidly and find the best solutions without it. You have to know why you’re doing something, why it’s successful (or not), and you have to be able to think about the end user or client so that you can ensure you’re doing things in a way that makes the most sense for the people who actually depend on that.’ Andrea is enthusiastic about carrying over that thoughtfulness to serve the rest of the team and the clients of CSHQA.
In her spare time, you can find Andrea caring for her guinea pigs or spending time with her husband. “He’s a high school teacher, also teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (that’s actually how we met!) and has introduced me to rock climbing and many other great activities; we have a lot of fun together.”
